by Stephen
Connock,
Robin
Barber
and John
Bishop,
the Ralph
Vaughan
Williams
Society
is dedicated
to the
life and
music
of the
composer.
A registered
charity
(number
1017175)
it has
built
a worldwide
membership.
The Society
has promoted
RVW opera
festivals,
such as Vision
of Albion in
London
in 1997,sponsored
recordings
including
the world
premiere
of The
Poisoned
Kiss (2003)
and has
launched
in 2007
its own
record
label
called
Albion
Records.
Before
her death
in late
2007,
The president
of the
RVW Society
was Vaughan
Williams’ widow
Ursula.
The Vice-Presidents
are Michael
Kennedy
and Roy
Douglas.
The
RVW Society
is leading
a number
of major
events
to mark
the 50th
anniversary
of Ralph
Vaughan
Williams’ death
in 2008.
This includes
sponsoring
concerts,
the release
of a number
of new
CD's under
the Albion
Records Label and
the Valiant
Voices celebrations
on 12th
october
2008.
