As
the Archbishop
of Canterbury
says in
his message
on page
2, we are
inviting
each church
in the worldwide
Anglican
Communion
to sing
at least
one Vaughan
Williams
hymn on
12th October
08.
Such
a worldwide
outpouring
of song
celebrating
one composer’s
contribution
to hymnody
will
be unique.
The
choice of
hymns will
be left
to each
church,
as will
the timing
of the chosen
hymn(s).
The congregation
should be
informed
that 12th
October
08 is a
special
day and
that we
are marking
the Vaughan
Williams
Jubilee
in a unique
way. They
will be
part of
a global
event rejoicing
in music
and its
power to
heal and
uplift.
A
new website
has been
formed at
www.valiantvoices.com.
This will
keep everyone
up to date
with developments
and we invite
each church
taking part
to let us
know by
email what
RVW hymns
are being
sung on
12th October
08.
We
will then
publicise
the celebrations
in Anglican
World and
in other
ways later
in 2008.
This
leaflet
provides
a few
detail
of Ralph
Vaughan
Williams’achievement
which we
hope can
be drawn
to the attention
of congregation
prior to
the singing
of RVW’s
hymn(s).
Join
us in this
unique
celebration.
Let us
genuinely
touch hands
across
the world.
