Introducing Vaughan Williams
The Hymns
RVW Society
How you can join

As part of the commemorations for the 50th anniversary of the death of Ralph Vaughan Williams in 2008, the RVW Society, a registered charity in the UK, is determined to mark the event through many concerts, recordings and festivals throughout the year. Full details can be found on the RVW Society web-site at www.rvwsociety.com

A key part of the events in the year is the nomination of 12 October, 2008 as the International Day of Vaughan Williams. On this day - happily the composer's birthday - churches in the Anglican Communion worldwide will be invited to sing at least one Vaughan Williams hymn. In this way, congregations will join hands across the world in a joyous outpouring of music.

This celebration of Vaughan Williams' contribution to hymnody has been strongly supported by the Archbishop of Canterbury and his views on both Vaughan Williams and the Internaitional Day are included on this web-site.
