in 2008,

A
key part
of the events
in the year
is the nomination
of 12 October,
2008 as
the International
Day of Vaughan
Williams.
On this
day - happily
the composer's
birthday
- churches
in the Anglican
Communion
worldwide
will be
invited
to sing
at least
one Vaughan
Williams
hymn. In
this way,
congregations
will join
hands across
the world
in a joyous
outpouring
of music.
This
celebration
of Vaughan
Williams'
contribution
to hymnody
has been
strongly
supported
by the Archbishop
of Canterbury
and his
views on
both Vaughan
Williams
and the
Internaitional
Day are
included
on this
web-site.
